Steps for creating on Instagram
Step 1
Set up a searchable name, clear photograph and a bio stating topic, audience and business contact. Example: “Simple student makeup | Bandung | work: business email”.
Step 2
For Insights, review the professional Creator account option in settings. Check its privacy implications before switching. Menu names can differ between app versions.
Step 3
Make three samples: a demonstration Reel, a step-by-step carousel and a question Story. Use original footage, clear audio and readable text.
Step 4
Open with a viewer problem. Show process, outcome and limitations. Write a descriptive caption and add location only when relevant.
Step 5
Respond politely. Turn recurring questions into ideas. Use Insights to compare similar formats over comparable periods.
Step 6
For payments, product gifts or affiliates, follow branded-content and paid-partnership rules. Explain the commercial relationship plainly.
What should you measure?
Review reach, watch time where available, saves, shares, profile visits and relevant enquiries. One viral Reel does not establish recurring income.
Schedules, video lengths and examples are practice suggestions. No posting time, hashtag or formula guarantees virality. Check your account because features can change.
How can you earn money?
Consider UGC production, sponsorships or eligible affiliate programmes. Instagram payment features depend on account, country and eligibility; check the professional dashboard.
- UGC
- You are paid to create brand content. Publishing on your account is not automatically included. Specify deliverables, format, revisions and usage rights.
- Endorse / paid promote
- You are paid to publish to your audience. Disclose the sponsorship and make only supportable claims.
- Affiliate
- You receive commission for qualifying transactions. Check account approval, products, attribution, cancellations and payment rules.
How much could you earn? There is no fixed amount. Start from zero and account for actual costs. Use scenarios to understand the arithmetic rather than predict a salary. Open income examples and the calculator. Work out your rate card · ID Creator glossary · ID
Free products or barter are not cash. Do not buy “guaranteed sponsorship” packages or share passwords with supposed brand representatives. Verify senders through official channels.
A 30-day practice plan for beginners
Adjust to your time and circumstances. The first month’s goal is a portfolio and a clearer idea of what to improve. You may earn nothing yet.
- Days 1–7
Choose & prepare
Choose one audience and subject. Set up your bio. Write 10 audience questions. Film one practice video with your existing phone.
- Days 8–14
Make 3 samples
Make a tutorial, a first-hand experience and a question answer. This is a practice target, not a platform posting requirement.
- Days 15–21
Publish & learn
Publish at a sustainable pace. Record questions, available watch-time data and improvements needed.
- Days 22–30
Build a portfolio
Select 3 strong samples. Define your services and limits. Prepare a media kit, practise a pitch and apply for a free CariTalent profile.
Prepare your first offer
Prepare a short portfolio with three relevant samples. State topics, services, delivery time, revisions and business contact. Give the source and period for any metrics. Label practice samples as practice rather than paid client work.
“Hello, I’m [name], a creator covering [topic]. I have an idea for [concept] to help explain [product/need]. My samples are at [link]. May I send a scope and quote?”
Make outreach personal and relevant rather than sending mass messages. Put deliverables, deadlines, fees, usage rights and cancellations in writing.
Use AI to assist, then verify
Copy this prompt and fill in the brackets. AI can help plan scripts; you must verify facts, permissions and claimed experiences. Keep client and child personal data out.

Frequently asked questions
How do I grow on Instagram without buying followers?
Choose one topic, publish Reels and carousels answering real questions, reply to comments and study Insights. Instagram’s Community Guidelines ask users not to collect likes or followers artificially, and fake followers make audience data useless to brands.
How do I get sponsorships on Instagram?
Show three relevant samples, prepare a media kit with dated Insights data and approach suitable brands personally. Agree scope, fee, usage rights and schedule in writing before starting.
Do affiliate posts need a paid partnership label?
Yes. Instagram treats paid posts, free or loaned products and posts with commission-earning affiliate links as branded content. Use the paid partnership label and explain the commercial relationship.
What is the minimum age for social media accounts in Indonesia?
Since 28 March 2026, PP TUNAS (Government Regulation 17/2025) and Komdigi Regulation 9/2026 restrict accounts for under-16s on high-risk platforms including TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, Threads, X and YouTube. Earning features such as TikTok LIVE and Gifts, TikTok Shop affiliate and YouTube AdSense require age 18 or older. CariTalent talent profiles are also for people aged 18 or older.
Do I need a large following first?
Not to learn and build a portfolio. UGC work considers production quality. Sponsored publishing considers audience fit and content performance. Affiliate and platform programmes have their own rules.
How long until I get work?
There is no fixed timeline. The 30-day plan is practice for creating work samples. Paid work depends on quality, fit, communication and opportunity.
Does CariTalent charge for a listing or take commission?
Directory registration is free with no talent commission. Applicants must be 18 or older. Submissions are reviewed and prospective partners contact talent directly.
