Start the steps ↓

Start with work, not follower count

A content creator does not necessarily receive a salary. Some months may bring no work. Revenue can come from production, sponsorships or valid sales commissions. Your result depends on service scope, performance, usage rights, costs and agreements.

Work fees
+ valid commissions
Production costs
+ operating costs
Remainder before tax

Product revenue or GMV is not personal income. Selling a Rp100,000 product does not mean you receive Rp100,000. You receive the commission allowed by programme terms. Cancelled or returned orders may generate no commission.

Calculate a monthly income scenario

These are your hypothetical inputs, not market rates or promised earnings. Enter approved commissions, not GMV or cancelled orders.

Three worked examples, not market rates

All figures below are invented to explain the arithmetic. They are not a salary survey, Indonesian endorsement-rate range or a creator’s actual earnings.

ExampleRevenueCostsBefore tax
No work yetRp0Rp100.000−Rp100.000
2 videos × Rp250,000Rp500.000Rp100.000Rp400.000
2 UGC + 1 sponsor + 20 commissionsRp1.100.000Rp200.000Rp900.000

Third row: (2 × Rp250,000) + (1 × Rp500,000) + (20 × Rp5,000). Commission is an example input, not a Shopee or TikTok rate.

How to set your first quote

  1. Count research, filming, editing, revisions and communication time.
  2. Add direct costs: travel, materials, data, rental and shipping.
  3. Choose your own target payment for time. This is a business decision, not a required market rate.
  4. Agree on usage rights, duration, exclusivity, revisions and payment timing.
  5. Compare quotes with equal scope. A Story, Reel, UGC asset and advertising licence are not equivalent.

How can you earn money?

UGC
You are paid to create brand content. Publishing on your account is not automatically included. Specify deliverables, format, revisions and usage rights.
Endorse / paid promote
You are paid to publish to your audience. Disclose the sponsorship and make only supportable claims.
Affiliate
You receive commission for qualifying transactions. Check account approval, products, attribution, cancellations and payment rules.

Free products or barter are not cash. Do not buy “guaranteed sponsorship” packages or share passwords with supposed brand representatives. Verify senders through official channels.

Prepare your first offer

Prepare a short portfolio with three relevant samples. State topics, services, delivery time, revisions and business contact. Give the source and period for any metrics. Label practice samples as practice rather than paid client work.

“Hello, I’m [name], a creator covering [topic]. I have an idea for [concept] to help explain [product/need]. My samples are at [link]. May I send a scope and quote?”

Make outreach personal and relevant rather than sending mass messages. Put deliverables, deadlines, fees, usage rights and cancellations in writing.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need a large following first?

Not to learn and build a portfolio. UGC work considers production quality. Sponsored publishing considers audience fit and content performance. Affiliate and platform programmes have their own rules.

How long until I get work?

There is no fixed timeline. The 30-day plan is practice for creating work samples. Paid work depends on quality, fit, communication and opportunity.

Does CariTalent charge for a listing or take commission?

Directory registration is free with no talent commission. Applicants must be 18 or older. Submissions are reviewed and prospective partners contact talent directly.
