Seven low-cost steps
Step 1: Set one goal and a budget
Pick one measurable goal, such as sales with a promo code, store visits or content for your own ads. Set a total budget, including sample products and shipping. Rate-card calculator · ID →
Step 2: Choose relevant micro and nano creators
Creators with small but relevant audiences often suit small businesses better than big accounts. Search by category, city and platform, then check sample work and the topics they really cover. Find talent for a brief →
Step 3: Write a clear brief
Describe the product, target buyers, deliverables, schedule, approved claims and usage rights. Send the same brief to several creators so offers can be compared. Free brief builder · ID →
Step 4: Compare rates honestly
There is no single market rate. Compare written offers for the same scope. Product-only deals are fine when agreed and still disclosed as partnerships. Reading rate cards · ID →
Step 5: Make sure your product is compliant
Cosmetics, food and supplements need a BPOM or P-IRT licence before promotion. Never ask creators for health claims or guaranteed results. Promotions to refuse →
Step 6: Sign a contract and label the ad
Use the free contract templates: deliverables, schedule, fee, revisions, licence, ad labels and AI use. Creators must use the paid-partnership label or a clear ad marker. Free contract templates →
Step 7: Measure results per creator
Give each creator a unique promo code or link, record sales and cost per creator, then rebook the best fits. Engagement alone does not prove sales. Engagement-rate calculator · ID →

Small-business questions
What is the minimum budget for small-business endorsements?
There is no minimum. Start with one or a few creators, measure results, then add budget for what works. CariTalent publishes no rates without enough data.
Can I pay creators in products only?
Yes, if the creator agrees in writing. Product-only deals must still be disclosed as paid content or partnerships.
What is the difference between micro and nano creators?
The terms group creators by follower count, with thresholds that vary by source. For small businesses, audience fit and city often matter more than follower count.
How do I measure endorsement results?
Use a unique promo code or link per creator, record sales and costs, and compare cost per sale. Keep proof of posting and the creator’s report.
